Specialty Chemicals Particle Portfolio

The MJR® process enables precise production of a wide range of particles across the following sectors:

SL 100 - SiO2
Treated silica

Solvent-based clear coating additive for improved scratch resistance

SL 100 (SiO2) is designed to elevate the performance of solvent-based clear coatings. Offering superior durability and protection while optimizing production costs.

Final dosage and performance depend on the coating formulation, resin chemistry, solvent system and curing conditions and must be established in the target system. Abrasion resistance, gloss and haze should be verified on the cured film at the intended film thickness.

Samples and technical consultation are available on request.

Key Features and Benefits

Improved Abrasion Resistance: Superior durability and surface protection
Broad Compatibility: Designed for post-addition into a wide range of solvent-based systems
Preserved Optical Properties: Maintains clarity and gloss under use conditions
Cost-Effective: Performance level at an economical price point
Automotive: Retains showroom finish even under harsh environmental conditions
Architectural: Enhances durability for exterior surfaces

BR 100 - BaSO4
Barium sulfate

Additive for water-based formulations to improve color pigment dispersion

Even minor deviations compromise quality in the paint and coatings industry. The BR 100 (BaSO4) was developed specifically for water-based colorant systems. Designed to meet and exceed the demanding standards of professional paint manufacturers.

Final dosage and performance depend on the colorant system, pH, pigment type and loading, dispersant selection and the tinting base and must be established in the target system. Color development, viscosity behavior and storage stability should be verified in the complete formulation.

Samples and technical consultation are available on request.

Key Features and Benefits

Enhanced Stability: Longer-lasting colorant performance across different pH values
Low Viscosity Impact: No measurable viscosity increase at recommended dosage
Optimized Dispersants: Reduced cost for polymeric dispersants and durability
Preserved Properties: Maintains gloss and color behavior under outdoor exposure
Enhanced Color: More vibrant, higher jetness with bluish undertones on black pigments
Easy Integration: Low viscosity for smooth formulation incorporation

ZrO2
Zirconium dioxide

Aqueous zirconium dioxide dispersion for industrial formulation development

ZrO₂ is an aqueous zirconium dioxide dispersion offered for evaluation in inorganic binder systems and functional formulations. Target applications include ceramic and refractory binders, casting formulations, catalyst and washcoat binder systems, and functional coatings or membranes.

Performance depends on oxide content, pH, particle and aggregate size, stabilizer, ionic environment and compatibility with the complete formulation. For corrosion protection, the grade is offered for formulation screening.

Samples and technical consultation are available on request.

Key Features and Applications

Aqueous Dispersion: Waterborne ZrO₂ for incorporation into inorganic binder and coating formulations
Documented Product Parameters: Oxide content, pH, particle and aggregate size and stabilizer reported in the released product documentation
Defined Particle and Aggregate Size: Characterized size distribution as a basis for reproducible formulation work
Versatile ZrO₂ Source: One dispersion for evaluation across ceramic binders, casting, catalyst and washcoat systems, coatings and membranes
Ceramic Binders, Refractories and Casting: Evaluation in ceramic and refractory binder systems, where solids, pH, green strength, drying behavior and firing performance are to be assessed in the target formulation, and in casting formulations, where compatibility with slurry pH, electrolytes, refractory fillers and the selected process should be checked
Catalyst Binders, Functional Coatings and Membranes: Evaluation as a binder in catalyst and washcoat systems, where adhesion, porosity, thermal treatment and interaction with the active components require qualification, and in functional coatings and membranes, where rheology, sedimentation, redispersibility, film defects and final performance are to be evaluated

ZnO
Zinc oxide

High surface area zinc oxide powder for industrial formulation development

ZnO is an active zinc oxide powder for formulations in which surface area, dispersion and reproducible product identity are relevant. The grade is offered for evaluation in rubber, coatings and inks, catalyst formulations and specialty-chemical formulations.

Final dosage and performance depend on the formulation and processing route and must be established in the target system.

Samples and technical consultation are available on request.

Key Features and Applications

High Specific Surface Area: Active ZnO grade for applications where reactivity and accessible surface are relevant
Reproducible Product Identity: Consistent grade characteristics for repeatable formulation work and scaling
Good Dispersibility: Supports incorporation into rubber compounds as well as liquid coating and ink systems
Versatile ZnO Source: One grade for evaluation across rubber, coatings, inks and catalyst formulations
Rubber, Coatings and Inks: Evaluation as a zinc oxide vulcanization activator in sulfur cured rubber, where cure package and mixing sequence are to be optimized for the compound, and as a functional inorganic pigment or UV management additive in coatings and inks, where UV and visible transmission, haze, color and film properties should be verified
Catalyst, Specialty Chemicals and Corrosion Protection: Use as a high surface area ZnO source in catalyst and specialty chemical formulations, subject to application specific qualification, and in corrosion protection development for formulation screening only, with no product specific corrosion performance claim made without nanoSaar test data

Zn3(PO4)2
Zinc phosphate

Pre dispersed zinc phosphate dispersion for corrosion protection formulation development

Zinc Phosphate is a liquid, pre dispersed zinc phosphate product with a reported dispersed particle range of 200 to 400 nm. The grade is offered for industrial formulation screening where a fine corrosion inhibiting pigment is required, in corrosion protective primers on steel and in surface conditioning before zinc phosphate conversion coating.

Starting levels are formulation reference points and do not constitute a performance specification. Determine the optimum dosage by an application related concentration ladder while keeping total pigment volume concentration and total solids comparable. Improved corrosion protection, reduced dosage, thin film suitability and surface conditioning performance must be demonstrated in the target system.

Samples and technical consultation are available on request.

Key Features and Applications

Pre Dispersed Supply Form: Liquid dispersion for direct incorporation under controlled agitation, which may reduce grinding demand in the formulation
Fine Dispersed Particle Range: Reported range of 200 to 400 nm as the current product specific size information
Active Inhibitive Pigment: Zinc phosphate for interfaces exposed to water and electrolyte, acting by precipitation and anodic passivation
Defined Starting Levels: Documented screening window of 3 to 10 wt% active zinc phosphate in primers and 0.5 g/L in surface conditioning baths, with a stated conversion basis for as supplied dosage
Corrosion Protective Primers on Steel: Evaluation in epoxy, acrylic, alkyd emulsion and water reducible alkyd systems, including thin film and direct to metal screening, where salt spray or cyclic corrosion performance, EIS, adhesion, blistering, water uptake, flash rust, pinholes, viscosity and storage stability are to be verified
Surface Conditioning Before Conversion Coating: Evaluation on steel, zinc coated steel and aluminium, where dispersed particles provide nucleation sites for phosphate crystal formation and bath stability, crystal refinement, coverage, coating weight, adhesion and corrosion performance after the full process require qualification
